A Special Invitation to Join “Friends of Greenwich Village”

If there is anything the past twelve months have taught all of us as New Yorkers, it is that community matters. And there is no community more unique in all of New York City than Greenwich Village. Which is why we invite you to join our new community group, “Friends of Greenwich Village,” the first-ever Residential Improvement District in the city.

Who We Are: We are a non-profit organization of neighbors dedicated to guiding Greenwich Village into the 21st Century. We love our neighborhood. It is an altogether unique, vibrant, rare, and at times fragile piece of this great city. It’s a neighborhood built on values. And it’s a neighborhood that has grown and thrived and endured because each generation has recognized it has a responsibility to guide the neighborhood into the future, with intelligence and careful consideration. We understand how lucky we are to live here.

What We Do: Much like a B.I.D., our Residential Improvement District will give us, the citizens of Greenwich Village, the ability to care for our own neighborhood -- which, let’s be clear, will take on critical importance as the city and state struggle with budgets and services severely weakened by the pandemic. By coming together as neighbors, students, and business owners, all of us who live in the area or visit it can ensure the unique features that make the Village such a desirable neighborhood are maintained.
